Cases Filed by Illinois Attorney General Ryan
(quoted from the Illinois Press Release):
- Defendants: RCP Enterprises Group, Inc.[,] 42 Harrison St., Bedford, Ohio.
and International Telemedia, (ITA), 340 Interstate North Parkway, Atlanta, Georgia. The
companyclaims consumers were solicited by a sweepstakes entry form to sign up for a
"prepaid calling card" that cost $9.95 per month. Consumers have no knowledge of the
sweepstakes. Ryan's Consumer Fraud Bureau has 11 consumer complaints against the defendants.
- Defendants: Coral Communications, Inc., 751 Park of Commerce Drive, Boca
Raton, Florida and ITA. The company claims it consumers through a sweepstakes contest
to purchase services including telephone credit cards and voice mail that cost approximately
&7 per month. Consumers deny knowingly entering these contests. Ryan's Consumer Fraud Bureau
has 12 consumer complaints against defendants.
- Defendants: BLJ Communications, 23123 State Road 7, Boca Raton, Florida, and
ITA. The company claims that consumers were solicited through a direct mail piece to sign
up for a "prepaid calling card" that costs &9.95 per month. Consumers have no
knowledge of this solicitation. Ryan's Consumer Fraud Bureau has 24 consumer complaints against
defendants.
- Defendant: New World Communications, Inc., 1013 Centre Road, Wilmington,
Deleware. The company claimed consumers called an 800 number to order voice mail and other
services that ranged in cost from $29 to $45 per month. Consumers deny calling the 800 number.
Ryan's Consumer Fraud Bureau has 27 consumer complaints against this company.
- Defendant: Traceform Eastern, 1945 West Palmetto St., Ste 243 Florence,
South Carolina. The company claims consumers called an 800 number to order service called
"value calling" that cost $42 per month. Consumer denied calling 800 number to order.
Ryan's Consumer Fraud Bureau has 13 consumer complaints against this company.
- Defendant: ASP Telecom, Inc., 3420 Pump Rooad, Ste 260, Richmond, Virginia.
The company claims consumers called an 800 number to order voice mail and other services that
ranged in cost from $35 to $45 per month. Consumers denied calling an 800 number to order.
Ryan's Consumer Fraud Bureau has 18 consumer complaints against this company.
- Defendant: Enhanced Phone Services, 13146 Midlothean Turnpike, Midlothean,
Virginia. The company claims consumers called an 800 number to order voice mail and other
services that ranged in cost from $30 to $45 per month. Consumers denied calling an 800 number
to order. Ryan's Consumer Fraud Bureau has 19 consumer complaints against this company.
- Defendant: Systems Technology, 1945 W. Palmetto St., Florence, South
Carolina. The company claims consumers called an 800 number to order voice mail that costs $42
per month. Consumers denied calling the 800 number. Ryan's Consumer Fraud Bureau has nine consumer
complaints against this company.
